The Yanmar 2V750 is a 2-cylinder, V-twin,
liquid-cooled diesel engine belonging to Yanmar’s Compact series of
small industrial power units. The 2V designation indicates a 2-cylinder
V-configuration, while 750 refers to the approximate displacement in
cubic centimeters. This engine is engineered for multi-use industrial
applications requiring compact packaging and reliable power delivery,
including turf care equipment, construction machinery, pumps, and
portable power products.
The engine features a vertical shaft orientation, forced lubrication
system, and electric start capability. A variant with the CVFE suffix
exists for specific original equipment manufacturer applications such as
generator sets from Harrington and Stephill. The 2V750 operates with
indirect injection combustion, which provides smooth operation and
reduced combustion noise compared to direct injection engines of similar
displacement.
The Yanmar 2V750 follows a V-twin architecture with a 90° or 60°
cylinder bank angle, balancing compact dimensions with smooth power
delivery across the engine speed range.

The cylinder block is constructed from lightweight alloy with cast-iron
cylinder liners, reducing overall engine weight while maintaining
durability for continuous industrial operation. The V-configuration
positions the two cylinders at an angle, shortening the engine length
compared to an inline 2-cylinder design.
The block incorporates a gear-driven timing system for the camshaft and
injection pump. Replaceable dry-type cylinder liners allow overhaul
without block replacement. The crankcase section features reinforced
main bearing bulkheads supporting a forged steel crankshaft. Three main
bearings support the crankshaft, with thrust washers positioned at the
center bearing to control axial play.
Each cylinder bank receives an individual cylinder head constructed from
cast iron. The overhead valve arrangement uses pushrods and rocker arms
actuated by a single camshaft mounted within the cylinder block. Each
cylinder receives two valves: one intake and one exhaust.
The combustion chamber is of the indirect injection (IDI) type,
featuring a swirl pre-chamber that promotes air-fuel mixing before
ignition. This design reduces combustion noise and allows operation at
higher speeds suitable for generator and turf equipment applications.
Valve seats are pressed-in inserts of heat-resistant alloy. Valve stem
seals prevent oil migration into the ports. Valve Clearance (cold,
intake and exhaust): 0.20 mm (0.008 in).
The fuel system uses indirect injection with a mechanical in-line
injection pump supplied by Yanmar. The pump is flange-mounted to the
cylinder block and gear-driven from the crankshaft. High-pressure lines
of equal length route from the pump to individual pintle-type injectors
mounted in each cylinder head. The injector opening pressure is preset,
producing a finely atomized spray pattern directed into the swirl
pre-chamber.
A 12-volt electric fuel pump supplies fuel from the tank, with some
variants using a mechanical lift pump. A replaceable fuel filter with a
sediment bowl protects the injection system from contamination. A manual
priming lever on the pump body assists with bleeding air after filter
service.
Fuel Injection Pump Model: 119225-52102 for CVFE variant
Fuel Consumption (rated power): 5.8 L/hr (1.53 gal/hr)
Fuel Tank Capacity: 12.0 L (3.17 gal) where integral tank is equipped
The lubrication system is a pressurized wet-sump configuration using a
trochoid-type oil pump. This self-priming internal gear pump provides
constant oil flow proportional to engine speed. The pump is mounted
inside the oil pan and driven directly from the crankshaft. Oil is drawn
through a wire mesh strainer, passed through a full-flow spin-on filter
with a paper cartridge element, and then routed to the main oil gallery.
The gallery distributes oil to the main bearings, connecting rod
bearings, camshaft bearings, and rocker shaft assembly. A pressure
relief valve maintains system pressure within 200-400 kPa (29-58 psi)
across the operating speed range.
Oil Capacity (including filter): 2.5-3.0 L (2.6-3.2 qt)
Recommended Oil Grade: SAE 10W-30 or 15W-40 meeting API CD or higher
The cooling system is a pressurized water-cooled configuration using a
centrifugal water pump driven by the engine’s drive belt. Coolant
circulates from the pump through the cylinder block water jackets, then
upward into the cylinder heads, and exits through the thermostat
housing.
The thermostat is a wax-pellet type located in a housing at the front of
the engine, rated at 71-82°C (160-180°F). A top-mount radiator with an
electric or belt-driven fan provides heat rejection for applications not
using remote cooling. A coolant expansion tank accommodates thermal
volume changes.
Coolant Capacity (engine only): 1.2-1.5 L (1.3-1.6 qt)
Coolant Capacity (complete system with radiator): 6.5 L (1.72 gal)
Electrical System: 12-volt negative ground. Starter motor is a
reduction-gear type rated at 0.8-1.0 kW. Alternator output is 20-40
amperes depending on specification. Glow plugs (pencil-type, one per
cylinder) provide cold start assistance, with automatic or manual
controller based on application.
Air Intake System: Dry-type replaceable paper element air cleaner with a
restriction indicator. The intake manifold is cast aluminum, mounted
between the V-bank. No turbocharger or charge air cooler is present.
Exhaust System: Dry exhaust manifold with flange for vertical or
horizontal outlet. Maximum back pressure is limited to 10 kPa (1.5 psi).
No aftertreatment devices are required for this emission classification.
Governor: Mechanical centrifugal governor integrated into the injection
pump, providing speed regulation suitable for generator, pump, and
constant-speed industrial applications.
Starting Aid: Glow plug system; preheat duration of 5-10 seconds at 20°C
(68°F), extending to 20 seconds at -10°C (14°F).
