The Deutz TCD 2015 V06 is a 4-cycle, 6-cylinder
V-block turbocharged diesel engine from the 2015 series. This engine is
designed for heavy-duty industrial applications, power generation,
construction machinery, and agricultural equipment requiring high power
output at moderate engine speeds.
The V06 designation indicates a V6 configuration with 6 cylinders
arranged in two banks at a 90-degree angle. The engine incorporates a
common rail fuel injection system, four-valve cylinder head technology,
a closed-circuit crankcase breather system, and liquid cooling. The
crankshaft features a 30-degree offset split-pin design for even firing
intervals in the V6 configuration.
The Deutz TCD 2015 V06 represents a heavy-duty diesel architecture
combining a cast iron crankcase with wet cylinder liners and individual
cast iron cylinder heads. Its 90-degree V6 configuration with a
30-degree offset crankshaft (split-pin design) provides an even
120-degree firing interval between cylinders, eliminating the uneven
firing characteristic common to simpler V6 designs.
This engine achieves a power output of 360 kW at 1900 rpm, with peak
torque of 1990 Nm at 1300 rpm. The forced-feed lubrication system uses
gear pumps, an engine-integrated oil cooler, and a replaceable cartridge
full-flow filter. The centrally arranged 8-hole injection nozzles in
combination with the common rail system provide optimal fuel atomization
for the four-valve crossflow cylinder head design.
Engine Type: 90-degree V6, 4-cycle, water-cooled, turbocharged diesel.
Family: Deutz TCD 2015 Series.
Displacement: 11.9 liters (726 cu.in).
Bore x Stroke: 132.0 mm x 145.0 mm (5.20 in x 5.71 in).
Compression Ratio: 16.5:1.
Firing Order: 1-4-5-2-3-6 (typical 90-degree V6 with split-pin
crankshaft).
Rated Power: 360 kW (485 hp) @ 1,900 rpm.
Maximum Torque: 1,990 Nm (1,474 lb-ft) @ 1,300 rpm.
Idle Speed: 550 ± 50 rpm.
Valvetrain: OHV, 4 valves per cylinder (24 total).
The crankcase is constructed from gray cast iron with a deep-skirt
design, providing structural rigidity for sustained heavy-duty
operation. The block utilizes replaceable wet-type cylinder liners, each
sealed with rubber O-rings at the lower flange. The wet liner design
allows direct coolant contact with the liner outer surface, delivering
superior heat transfer from the combustion zone.
The V6 block is cast with two cylinder banks arranged at a 90-degree
angle. The crankshaft is supported by four main bearings for the V6
configuration. The water jacket surrounds each liner completely, with
cast-in coolant passages. The camshaft is located within the V-angle of
the block, driven by a gear train from the crankshaft. The crankcase
breather is a closed-circuit system, vacuum-controlled, routing blow-by
gases back to the intake system.
Each piston is a three-ring design incorporating two compression rings
and one oil scraper ring. Piston cooling is achieved through oil spray
nozzles directed at the underside of the piston crown. For CP (high
pressure) engine variants, channel-cooled pistons with integrated oil
galleries provide enhanced thermal management. The connecting rod is
manufactured from drop-forged steel with a trapezoidal piston pin
support, reducing weight while maintaining strength
The connecting rod bearing surface uses tri-metal plain bearings for
high load capacity. The crankshaft is manufactured from drop-forged
steel with bolted counterweights. The V6 block employs a 30-degree
offset crankpin (split-pin) design, providing even 120-degree firing
intervals despite the 90-degree cylinder bank angle.
The engine utilizes individual cylinder heads for each cylinder,
manufactured from gray cast iron in a crossflow design. Individual heads
allow independent replacement and simplified gasket sealing. The
four-valve technology provides two intake and two exhaust valves per
cylinder, enhancing volumetric efficiency. Overhead valves are actuated
via mechanical pushrods and rocker arms from the block-mounted camshaft.
The crossflow design positions intake ports on one side of the head and
exhaust ports on the opposite side, improving thermal management and
airflow. Valve rotators on exhaust valves promote even wear and extended
service life. The centrally arranged fuel injector provides a
symmetrical spray pattern to the re-entrant combustion bowl machined
into the piston crown.
The camshaft is manufactured from steel, located within the V-angle of
the cylinder block between the two cylinder banks. The camshaft is
driven by a gear train from the crankshaft front, eliminating timing
belt and chain replacement requirements. Cam lobes are ground to
profiles optimized for the four-valve cylinder head design.
Mechanical pushrods transfer motion from the camshaft to the rocker
arms. Valve lash is adjustable via threaded adjusters with locknuts on
the rocker arms. The closed-circuit crankcase breather system operates
under vacuum control, preventing oil mist emission to the atmosphere.
The TCD 2015 V06 is equipped with a common rail fuel injection system.
An in-line high-pressure injection pump delivers fuel to the common rail
accumulator. The system operates with a mechanical centrifugal governor
or the electronic EMR-2 engine governor depending on the application and
emission standard.
A mechanical reciprocating fuel lift pump draws fuel through the
replaceable cartridge fuel filter. The injection nozzles are 8-hole type
with central arrangement in the cylinder head, providing a finely
atomized symmetrical spray pattern for the four-valve combustion
chamber. This configuration ensures optimum engine performance at low
fuel consumption.
The lubrication system is a forced-feed circulation design utilizing
gear pumps. The engine-integrated lubricating oil cooler maintains oil
temperature within operational limits under sustained high-load
operation. The lubricating oil filter is a paper-type microfilter as a
replaceable cartridge, configured as a full-flow filter. Oil galleries
within the block and cylinder heads supply pressurized oil to the main
bearings, connecting rod bearings, camshaft bearings, and rocker arm
assemblies.
he turbocharger receives oil through a dedicated supply line. The
crankshaft-driven oil pump draws oil from the wet sump, with a pressure
relief valve maintaining system pressure. Main and big-end bearings are
tri-metal plain bearings for high load capacity.
The cooling system is liquid-cooled with forced circulation. A
belt-driven centrifugal water pump circulates coolant through the
cylinder block, individual cylinder heads, turbocharger, and radiator. A
wax-type thermostat regulates coolant flow to maintain optimal operating
temperatures.
The charge air cooler (intercooler) reduces intake air temperature after
the turbocharger for increased charge density. The system is designed
for sustained operation in ambient temperatures from -25°C to +50°C with
appropriate coolant specification.
