BMW M52B20 Troubleshooting

Engine difficult to start or won't start

No fuel in fuel tank - Fill fuel up.
Wrong fuel grade - Change fuel.
Dirt and debris in fuel system - Remove debris and dirt.
Disconnected or loose spark plug wire - Check the spark plug wire connection, repair or replace.
Spark plug is damaged - Spark plug need to be replaced.
Ignition failure - Check ignition system and replace faulty parts.
Fuel filter is plugged - Install new filter.
Dirty fuel lines - Clean fuel lines.
Clogged or defective fuel pump - Check fuel pump and change if required.
Dirty or damaged fuel injectors - Clean or install new fuel injectors.
Engine has bad compression - Check cylinder block and change wear parts.

Rough engine running

Ignition system malfunction - Check ignition and replace faulty components.
Air filter is dirty - Replace or clean air filter.
Spark plug is faulty - Change spark plug as required.
Fuel pump is faulty or clogged - Check fuel pump and change if required.
Improper valve clearance - Check and adjust.

Engine overheated
