BMW M50B20 Troubleshooting
Engine won't start or difficult to start |
No gasoline in tank - Fill fuel up.
Low-quality gasoline - Change gasoline.
Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.
Defective spark plug wire connection - Check the spark plug wire connection, repair or replace.
Spark plug is defective - Spark plug need to be replaced.
Ignition system problems - Inspect ignition system and change failed components.
Plugged fuel filter - Install new filter.
Restricted fuel lines - Fuel lines must be clean.
Dirty or damaged fuel pump - Service or replace fuel pump.
Fuel injectors are faulty or clogged - Clean or replace fuel injectors.
Poor engine compression - Check cylinder block and replace damaged components.

Ignition system failure - Inspect ignition system and change failed components.
Air filter element is plugged - Clean or replace air filter.

Thermostat is defective - Change thermostat as required.
Damaged water pump - Install new water pump.
Engine knocks or noises |
Stale or low octane fuel - Change fuel.
Engine overloaded - Reduce engine load.
Engine oil level is low - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
